eduroam Chromebook Setup

This article will walk you through connecting to eduroam on an Android based device.


You must be connected to the internet to authenticate to eduroam. If you have internet access on your device already you can follow these instructions:

  1. Go to wireless.osu.edu and click the "connect to eduroam" button, or access go.osu.edu/eduroam-osu to begin the onboarding process.
  2. The links will connect to the Join Now site hosted by SecureW2.  Clicking the button will open a link to the JoinNow MultiOS extension in the Chrome Web Store.
  3. Once the extension is installed, go back to the initial tab.
  4. Click the setup button to be asked to log in. You will be prompted for your Ohio State username (lastname.#) and password, followed by an additional authentication via BuckeyePass/Duo.  Accept the push and you will be taken back to the JoinNow page with a download button.
  5. Click the download button to download a .onc file and open a Network tab.  On the network tab, there is a button under "Import ONC File".  Click the button and find the "SecureW2.onc" file in your downloads.
  6. Your device will be ready to connect to eduroam the next time it is available at a location. 

My device does not have internet access!

If you need internet access you will have to connect your device to the wireless network called WiFi@OSU.  Once you connect to WiFi@OSU the onboarding process will begin.

  1. After initial connection with the wireless icon in the bottom right, open a Chrome browser.
  2. The browser should automatically open the captive portal page with options to connect to eduroam (A security tab may open; this can be safely ignored).

  3. After clicking the "connect to eduroam" button, the Join Now site hosted by SecureW2 will be presented. Clicking the button will open a link to the JoinNow MultiOS extension in the Chrome Web Store.
  4. Once the extension is installed, go back to the initial tab.
  5. Click the setup button to be asked to log in. You will be prompted for your Ohio State username (lastname.#) and password, followed by an additional authentication via BuckeyePass/Duo. Accept the Push and you will be taken back to the JoinNow page with a download button.
  6. Click the button to download a .onc file and open a Network tab.  On the network tab, there is a button under "Import ONC File".  Click the button and find the "SecureW2.onc" file in your downloads.
  7. Choose "Network Select", highlight eduroam, and choose to connect.

When connecting to eduroam from the Newark Campus the instructions are similar but require different information.

  1. Go to go.osu.edu/eduroam-cotc to begin the onboarding process.
  2. The link will connect to the Join Now Site hosted by SecureW2.  Clicking the button will open a link to the JoinNow MultiOS extension in the Chrome Web Store.
  3. Once the extension is installed, go back to the initial tab.
  4. The JoinNow page will have a download button with a .onc file and opens a Network tab.
  5. On the network tab, there is a button under "Import ONC File".  Click the button and find the "SecureW2.onc" file in your downloads.
  6. Under "Network Select" choose eduroam.
  7. Settings will have been configured from the .onc file except for "Identity" and "Password".  Enter your log on information
    • Students of COTC will need to log in using the COTC credentials (lastname-#@cotcmail.cotc.edu) and password
  8. Choose connect to save the settings.
