Duo Certificate Authority Change March 31, 2026
Due to a certificate authority (CA) change on March 31, 2026, versions older than 4.85.0 of the Duo Mobile app will no longer be supported. Users with unsupported versions will be unable to approve push notifications. However, one-time passcodes generated within the Duo mobile app will still be available to use.
Recommended Action
Update Duo Mobile to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play. This is the preferred and most secure option. Register a secondary device to ensure you have a backup device on your account. See Adding a Device.
Alternative Options
- Use Duo Mobile on another, supported device
- Use a security key (FIDO2/WebAuthn)
- Purchase a hardware token from Tech Hub
- Use SMS passcodes
Android 8 through 10
Duo has created a special Duo Mobile builds for Android 8 through 10 that will allow those older devices to continue using Duo Push after 3/31/26. However, those Android versions remain unsupported by Duo and will not receive new features, further fixes, or app updates. See Duo KB article 2211 for Android APK side-load instructions.

If No Action Is Taken
After March 31, 2026, authentication may fail, preventing access to systems protected by BuckeyePass (Duo).
